Jordan reports 6,216 new COVID-19 cases

AMMAN, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Wednesday registered 6,216 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the caseload to 1,117,397, the Jordanian Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The ministry also reported 14 deaths from the coronavirus, raising the kingdom's COVID-19 death toll to 13,028.

The share of tests returning a positive result, known as the positive rate, stood at 15.39 percent, the statement said.

There are currently 36,672 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan, it added.

It added that the total number of people who received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine reached 4,532,878, while 4,133,132 have got their second shots.
