ABU DHABI, 6th October, 2022 (WAM) -- The UAE Boxing Federation, headed by Anas Al Otaiba, President of the Asian and Emirati Boxing Federations, confirmed its participation in the ASBC Asian Elite Men's & Women's Championships 2022, to be held in Jordan from 30th October to 13th November, 2022.

The UAE National Team will be represented in the championship by Hussein Al Shamar in the 71-kilogramme (kg) category, Nawaf Ali Khamis in the 57-kg category, and Fahd Khoury in the 75-kg category, in addition to Jawaher Al Amiri in the 51-kg category. Mohamed Mosbeh Al Shibli will lead the team as technical director, with Hassan Mammadov as head coach.

Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the UAE Boxing Federation, said that after the successes achieved by the national team at the Asian and international championships last year, it is only natural for it to compete again in the Asia championship to be held in Jordan.

The federation's board thanked the General Authority of Sports (GAS), chaired by Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, for supporting the federation.

Al Hammadi also expressed his confidence in the abilities of the national team's fighters to achieve further success and add to the country's track record. The event is an opportunity for them to attain international exposure and experience, he noted.

He further expressed his happiness at the appointment of Sultan Al Waly as a referee in the championship.
