Jordan, Syria, U.S. to hold trilateral talks Tuesday

AMMAN, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Jordan will host a trilateral meeting with Syria and the United States on Tuesday to discuss the situation in Syria, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said Sunday.

The meeting will discuss ways to advance Syria's reconstruction on foundations ensuring security, stability, and sovereignty, said the ministry in a statement.

According to the statement, Syrian foreign affairs chief Asaad Hassan al-Shibani, U.S. Ambassador to Trkiye and Special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack, and representatives from relevant institutions in the three countries will attend the meeting.

The talks build on a meeting held in Amman on July 19 that focused on consolidating a ceasefire in Syria's southern Sweida province and resolving the crisis there.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi will also hold separate talks with al-Shibani and Barrack, the statement added.
